An IndiGo Flight Enroute Dubai From Mumbai Makes An Emergency Landing In Rajkot

An IndiGo flight on Monday, July 27th, which was flying from Mumbai to Dubai, had to make an emergency landing in Rajkot. Yes, this landing at the Rajkot Airport in Gujarat happened after the crew detected smoke in the cargo hold of the aircraft. Here’s what happened during the flight.

IndiGo Flight From Mumbai Makes Emergency Landing In Rajkot

An IndiGo flight 6E 1452, which was carrying 194 passengers, had to make an emergency landing at the Rajkot Airport after the crew detected smoke in the cargo hold of the aircraft. As a result, the air traffic control was alerted, and following the alert, Rajkot Airport declared a full emergency in order to facilitate a safe landing. As revealed by the Gulf News, the aircraft landed safely at Rajkot Airport, and all 194 passengers disembarked with no injuries.

The Crew Reportedly Saw Smoke From The Cargo Hold Of The Aircraft

The airport emergency services were placed on standby as part of the standard operating procedure. However, the cause of the smoke was not immediately known. Further investigation is expected in order to determine what triggered this incident. In a statement by the airline, as mentioned by NDTV, it was revealed that an alternate aircraft had been arranged so that the journey could be completed. Not to mention, they were also assisting customers and making unnecessary arrangements to ease the waiting time.

It should be noted that this inspection is being done before the aircraft can be cleared for resuming operations. IndiGo is the largest airline in India by market share, and it is known for operating flights to over 80 domestic destinations and more than 30 international destinations. The airline is known for operating Airbus A320 and A321 series planes and ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft.
