Egypt’s Cairo Airport To Introduce Digital Visas From August

As revealed in a report of Asharq Al-Awsat, it was recently affirmed by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the previous week, that Egypt continues to keenly develop the tourism sector. And now the government is saying that it’s working to strengthen the mechanisms so that it can drive more inbound tourism. Not to mention, it also aims to facilitate procedures that are related to tourist entries and departures through airports and various points of entry.

With The Aim Of Improving Tourist Experiences

It is a part of the system support towards the state effort for improving the tourist experience. Not to mention, it is a part of the effort to raise the quality of tourism services, which is in line with the state’s strategic direction towards strengthening digital transformation. This new step will restructure and digitise all airports.

There are several advantages of introducing an instant digital visa, as it would help facilitate the procedures for visitors. Not to mention, it would also reduce waiting times and the congestion that often happens inside airports due to the time taken to stamp physical visas.

More About The Digital Visa

As further mentioned in the report, visitors will have to pay the visa fee and service charges electronically, which would be done through the channels that are available on the system. After this, the visa stamp will be issued as a QR code, which the passport control officers will be able to scan to verify its validity and match travel information. The visa can be obtained 48 hours before arrival or through tourism companies. It should be noted that the people who are seeking a digital visa will be able to enter the details through a self-service machine at the airports and entry points. They can also do so through the system’s official website or mobile phone application.

So, with the introduction of the digital visa, tourism is bound to increase in Egypt, as the country relies on this sector, which is one of the most important sources of national income.
