An IndiGo flight travelling from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad early Friday morning after a bomb threat was reported mid-journey. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 1232, landed safely at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 6.40 am. All 180 passengers on board were unharmed. Just a tense few hours for passengers and crew before authorities confirmed the threat was a hoax.
Bomb Threat Forces IndiGo Kuwait–Delhi Flight To Land In Ahmedabad
The Airbus A320 had departed Kuwait International Airport in the early hours and was flying towards Delhi. A sudden alert surfaced onboard. The crew onboard immediately diverted the flight to the nearest suitable airport, following standard aviation safety protocols.
According to a report by The Indian Express, airport authorities were seen swinging into action the moment the aircraft landed at Ahmedabad airport.
Full Security Sweep Post Landing Of The Flight
Once on the ground in Ahmedabad, the security team from the airport authority, Ahmedabad city police, CISF, airport police, bomb detection and disposal squads, and dog units conducted a thorough inspection.
Luggage, cabin, and cargo were kept on hold as the team checked every nook and cranny of the flight. The process followed strict aviation security guidelines. It is carefully designed to rule out even the smallest risk. After hours of checks, officials confirmed the threat to be a hoax and posed no danger to passengers or the airport.
Authorities informed that further investigation would likely continue in Delhi, which is the official arrival destination. The authorities are working to trace the source of the alert and determine how the threat was communicated.
Ahmedabad Sees Repeat Diversions Due To Threats
This incident marks the third bomb threat-linked landing or diversion to Ahmedabad airport.
