Planning a trip soon? The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a timely checklist of rules for Emiratis going abroad. It is sort of details of advice you tend to read before, not after, you get on a plane.
The MOFA Of The UAE Provides The Necessary Travel Tips To Emiratis Abroad
These are workable, tried and tested regulations that are supposed to ensure the protection of travellers, their insurance, documentation and peace of mind.
The Non-Negotiables Before You Fly
According to the report made by Gulf News, MOFA encourages Emirati travellers to begin with the basics. Ensure that your passport has a minimum of 6 months before its validity runs out. Check the visa regulations and health conditions of your destination early. No guessing or last-minute panic.
It should also have international health insurance. It must last as long as you are on the trip. MOFA also highly suggests that you and your family should be registered on the Twajudi service.
Intelligent Living When You Study Abroad
After leaving the country, it is about awareness. MOFA recommends that Emiratis save the 24/7 emergency number (+97180024) and ensure that it is always available. Do not act on rumours posted on social media, but rather, on the directives of the authorities in the host country.
Always have an electronic version of passports, visas and insurance documents. Only trustworthy travel agencies and licensed car rental companies should be used to plan trips.
Choose Safety First On The Road
Always check the road and weather conditions before travelling overseas. Obey the local traffic regulations even when they become very slow. Another recommendation that MOFA makes is to use air travel as much as possible. It is safer, more controlled and much less tiring compared to long-distance road travel in uncharted territory.
Lost Passport? There’s A Fast Fix
In 2025 alone, MOFA received 1,257 requests for emergency return documents. These are given electronically in 30 minutes and assist Emiratis to get back home in case of lost and damaged passports or in the event the passport expires.
The number of lost passports was 734, 126 expired, 31 damaged and 366 requests for newborn Emiratis born in other countries. The highest volume was registered in December, showing that the periods of travel disorder are at their highest during holidays.
