Planning a trip that touches Saudi Arabia and Kenya? Pause and read this first. On Friday, 30 October 2026, Saudi Arabia’s Public Health Authority announced fresh precautionary steps against Ebola, and Kenya sits at the centre of them. According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom has suspended travel to and entry from Kenya.

What Exactly Has Changed

Three things stand out. Saudi citizens are now prohibited from travelling to Kenya. The issuance of all types of visas to travellers from Kenya has been suspended. And travellers arriving from Kenya are barred from entering the Kingdom.

The 21-Day Rule

Taking a connecting flight will not get around the restriction. Entry is also denied to anyone who has lived in Kenya, or in any other country experiencing an Ebola outbreak, within the 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia. That applies even if the person comes through a third country.

Not A Brand-New Move

This step builds on earlier measures. In May 2026, authorities had already strengthened rules for travellers coming from countries dealing with Ebola outbreaks. Saudi Arabia has been adding such measures in stages for years.

What The Authority Says

The Public Health Authority described the steps as precautionary. It stressed that the health situation inside the Kingdom remains reassuring and is under constant surveillance.

What Travellers Should Do Now

If your itinerary involves Kenya and Saudi Arabia, a few habits will help:

  • Check directly with your airline and official Saudi channels before booking or flying.
  • Prefer flexible or refundable tickets while rules are shifting.
  • Ignore forwarded messages and screenshots. Rely on official announcements.
  • Recheck the rules close to your departure date.

The Bigger Picture

Health-related travel curbs can change quickly in either direction. For now, the message is simple: if Kenya is on your recent travel history, Saudi Arabia is closed to you, and the 21-day window applies to other outbreak-affected countries too.
