Eid Al-Fitr 2026 Is Predicted For This Date according To Astronomic Projections

Eid Al-Fitr is one of the most awaited festivals in the Middle East. And the UAE also celebrates this festival with a lot of pomp and show. Although the festival is celebrated on the basis of moon sighting, astronomical calculations have already begun speculating on the probable date on which this festival might fall. Here’s what the projections indicate!

Projected Date For Eid Al-Fitr Announced

According to the astronomical projections for 2026, Eid Al-Fitr is expected to be celebrated on March 20th, Friday. This was mentioned in a report of the Gulf News, which stated that the astronomical projections were according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society. It was mentioned how the crescent that marks the start of Ramadan 1447AH is expected to fall on Tuesday, which is February 17, 2026. However, these sighting conditions in the evening might be challenging.

Ramadan Might Begin On This Date

So, on the basis of these calculations, Ramadan is most probably going to fall on Thursday, February 19th. It is expected to run for 30 days, and if it completes 30 days as suggested by the projection, the UAE has an approved holiday calendar, and it showcases how day 30 might be added to the Eid al-Fitr break. So, residents may receive a four-day weekend, which would start on Thursday, March 19th and go until Sunday, March 22nd.

However, it’s worth noting that all of these are just observations made on the basis of astronomical calculations. The actual date will be given on the basis of moon sighting. The final confirmation will then be revealed by the UAE moon sighting committee, which will be closer to the date.

So, with the probable dates out, all you need to do is make plans for the upcoming festivities that we are sure you wouldn’t want to miss.
