Ski Dubai’s New Partner Fitness Challenge Will Have People Doing Burpees In Snow

Dubai loves a fitness event. Dubai also loves doing things in places where they probably shouldn’t happen. So honestly, a HYROX-style challenge inside a freezing indoor ski park feels very on-brand for the city. On June 28, Ski Dubai is teaming up with Dubai Sports Council and Athlete Fitness to launch “HYROX in the Snow”, a partner-based endurance competition happening inside the snowy slopes of Ski Dubai.

And yes, people will willingly be doing burpees in minus 4 degrees.

The event is open to men and women between 18 and 60 years old, and unlike regular solo fitness races, this one focuses heavily on teamwork. Participants compete in pairs, pushing through workout stations together while trying not to collapse dramatically into the snow halfway through.

This Isn’t Just Running Around In The Cold

The challenge combines endurance and functional training exercises inspired by HYROX-style workouts.

Participants will move through different stations involving snow runs, ski and rowing machines, lunges, wall balls, farmer’s carries, burpees and air squats. Basically, all the exercises people already complain about at the gym are just colder.

Running in freezing conditions while trying to stay coordinated with a partner sounds equal parts fun and humbling. Probably mostly exhausting.

That said, the unusual setting is clearly part of the appeal. Dubai already has endless indoor fitness studios and obstacle races. Doing workouts while surrounded by actual snow in the middle of summer gives this event a very different energy.

It’s Competitive, But Also Built For People Wanting Something Different

For many gym-goers in Dubai, HYROX-style training has become increasingly popular because it mixes strength and cardio without feeling like traditional sports.

But organisers say this event isn’t only for hardcore athletes chasing performance goals. Some participants will likely join just for the experience itself.

The event is powered by Athlete Fitness, which is an official HYROX training partner. But organisers also clarified that “HYROX in the Snow” is not an official HYROX race itself. It’s an independent event inspired by the training format.

Registration is already open, with prices starting from AED 150 per person. Which means couples, gym friends and aggressively competitive siblings across Dubai are probably already deciding who’s going to slow the team down first.
