Navi Mumbai frequently faces water shortage however, it seems like this year, it won’t be a problem. The Morbe Dam which supplies water to most of the Navi Mumbai area has recently seen consistent heavy rainfall which has led to it being almost full. If reports are to go by, as of now, the dam is 93 per cent full. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about the water level in this dam.
Morbe Dam In Navi Mumbai Is 93 Per Cent Full As Of Now
According to an article which was recently published by Mumbai Live, the water levels of this particular dam have reached 93 per cent of its full capacity. The article also went on to say that the Morbe Dam area has received more rain than the entire Navi Mumbai area.
Prior to the rains, the municipality was forced to cut water supply in order to ensure adequate supply for the rest of the season. However, since the rains have been plentiful, water cuts will not prove to be necessary.
Up until June 15, 2024, the rainfall recorded near the dam was only 78.60mm. This meant that the dam was only 26 per cent of its full capacity. Since then, the area has seen heavy rainfall for a few days.
To Ease Water Woes In The Navi Mumbai Region This Time
It is hoped that the water levels will soon reach 100 per cent of its capacity. Once this happens, the water woes in the region could really be alleviated. As of August 20, 2024, the dam has received a total of 3,005 mm of water owing to heavy rainfall.
If the heavy rain persists for a few more days, the dam could reach its full capacity. This will bring a huge relief to the residents and officials alike.
