More And More Indians Prefer Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines To Increase Weekly Flights

The COVID-19 pandemic had brought the world to a standstill. But as the restrictions were lifted, slowly the world became open to travel. The travel industry began seeing a boom as people stepped out of their houses with friends, families, and even solo to travel across the globe. Talking about travel, Indians preferred Malaysia a lot. Well, that made India the top market for Malaysia Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines To Increase Weekly Flights

India is currently overtaking even Australia as Malaysia Airlines’ top market thanks to the country’s robust demand,  according to Financial Express, Malaysia Airlines’ group chief marketing and customer experience officer, Yin May Lau.

Malaysia Airlines now operates 55 flights per week to six destinations in India. In order to meet the country’s high demand, Lau claimed that the number of flights will be increased even further, to 60.

India becoming the carrier’s top market is not particularly surprising. India was one of Malaysia Airlines’ top three markets even before the pandemic, but the country has experienced a striking increase in demand for air travel since the virus.

Malaysia Airlines isn’t the only airline operating between the two nations, though. Other well-known airlines, many of which operate from numerous locations in India, such as IndiGo, AirAsia, AirAsia X, and Batik Air Malaysia, compete with it.

Airline Serves In 6 Indian Cities

Since last year, when Malaysia Airlines operated 25 weekly flights, the airline has increased its presence in India. It was the ideal time for the carrier to start significantly redeploying its aircraft to the country, with Malaysia following quickly after on April 1st and India opening its borders to foreign tourists on March 27th, 2022.

The airline now serves six Indian cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Chennai. There are plans to add a few more, including Trivandrum and Trichy in South India.

Even though point-to-point travel to Malaysia is still popular, many Indian customers also have connections to other places, like Australia and New Zealand. (As per Simple Flying)
