Scotland paved the way when it became the world’s first nation to offer period products free of cost. And now, the country’s port city, Glasgow is all set to become the UK’s first feminist city. Scotland’s Glasgow To Become UK’s First Feminist City

According to a report by Time Out, Glasgow City Council unanimously voted to bring feminist urbanism into place. This simply means that women will play a crucial part in the city planning decision. To make Glasgow the UK’s first feminist city women’s safety and convenience will be given top priority. So, the main features of a feminist city include more street lighting, accessible toilets, spacious pavements, lush green spaces, proximity to public services and walkability.

What Are The Features Of A Feminist City?

Green Councillor Holly Bruce revealed that these features will not only cater to women but also non-binary and gender-fluid citizens. Feminist urbanism scholars stated to Euronews states that historically men were involved in designing the streets. So, they designed it to suit their own needs without taking into consideration the needs and habits of women and gender minorities.
