Spending a summer day on a beautiful beach and relaxing seems like a perfect plan. Texas is home to many beaches overlooking great views. Unfortunately, Texas people’s plans to spend a fun beach day are about to go unfulfilled as most beaches here are found to be contaminated. Environment America conducted a study back in 2022 that measured and checked the conditions of the beaches in the US state. The environmental group witnessed some surprising results following this study. According to a report by Chron, about 90 per cent of beaches there are badly contaminated with faecal bacteria. The study revealed that all these beaches experienced at least a day in 2022 with unsafe levels of faecal bacteria. This highly exceeds the national average and is currently a huge concern.

Faecal contamination in such a high quantity on most beaches is extremely unsafe. This also goes beyond U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s safety standard.

A total of 61 beaches were a part of this 2022 study, according to a report by Khou. 55 beaches resulted to have unsafe levels of faecal contamination for at least a day of the testing procedure. Another shocking revelation is that about 8 beaches were found to have unsafe levels for over 25 per cent days of the entire process. Some beaches in Galveston County were found to be positive with unsafe levels on 23 per cent of days of testing. The numbers were 21 per cent of testing days for Sylvan Beach Park in Harris County.

About 55 per cent of beaches in the entire country are reported to have contamination for at least a day in 2022 which is higher than the set threshold of the Environmental Protection Agency.
