The Mumbai Metro Line 3 is slated to be a major connector in terms of transport as it will link different parts of the financial capital to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or the CSMIA. Since the line is partly operational, the authorities have decided to build a temporary walkway from the metro station to Terminal 2 of the international airport in Mumbai. This will streamline travel for air travellers. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this new temporary walkway.
Mumbai Airport To Be Linked To Metro 3 Via Temporary Walkway
According to an article which was recently published by The Times Of India or TOI, this new temporary walkway will be linked to Terminal 2. A team of officials visited the airport on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. The aim of the visit was to assess the feasibility of this very bridge.
The team comprised officials from the Maha Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation or the MMMOC, the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Association or MMRDA, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation or the MMRC and the Mumbai International Airport Limited or the MIAL.
The project will be a collaborative one, with officials across different teams from the urban development department. Officials are hopeful that the temporary walkway will make it easier for travellers to head to and from the airport.
Why Is This Walkway So Necessary?
This particular walkway is a necessity because, as of now, the construction for Metro Line 7A is going on. This particular metro line will also connect to the airport and hence, commuters have been facing certain obstacles in travelling to the airport.
If reports are to go by, Metro Line 7A is estimated to be completed by the month of December of the next year. As of now, it takes as much as 15 minutes to travel to the airport terminal from the metro station.
