The Mumbai Coastal Road Project is one of the biggest infrastructure projects in the city. After the completion of the Atal Setu, this is probably the biggest Mumbai infrastructure project currently underway. 1. First Phase To Become Operational By The End Of January

According to the Chief Minister of Mumbai, Eknath Shinde, the first phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project will become operational around the end of January. This first phase stretches across 10.58 kilometres between Worli and Marine Drive.

2. 3.7k Mangroves To Be Cut For The Construction Of The Coastal Road

According to an article which was published some time ago by The Times Of India or TOI, it was approved by the Bombay High Court. The court granted the City and Industrial Development Corporation or CIDCO permission to cut a total of 3,728 Mangrove trees.

3. Construction Of Twin Tunnels Faces Hurdles

The twin tunnels which will stretch across more than two kilometres, faced significant hurdles in construction. According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express, at one point, mining work was stalled for three months. The twin tunnels are India’s first undersea tunnel and will originate from Marine Drive and end at PDP in Breach Candy.

4. BMC Finalises Four Contractors For Building Coastal Road Extension

The extension will link Dahisar to Versova and will cost around ₹16,000 crores to make. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or the BMC recently finalised four contractors. They are L&T, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited, J Kumar Infra Projects and APCO Infratech.
