After the inauguration of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link or the Atal Setu, the Mumbai Coastal Road Project is now the biggest infrastructure project in the financial capital of the country. Soon, a part of the project will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 19. Here are all of the important details about the parts of the project which are completed and the parts that are still pending.
Mumbai Coastal Road Project: All To Know About Its Current Status

Part of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project is complete. According to an article which was published by Business Standard, Phase 1 of the project will be completed by May 31 and will be operational by June.
However, part of the first phase, which is the underground tunnel between Marine Drive and Worli, will be inaugurated on February 19, 2024. The Prime Minister of the country will be doing the honours.
The construction of Phase 2 is slated to begin before the monsoon season in 2024. Once completed, the Mumbai Coastal Road Project is expected to significantly reduce congestion within the all-too-space-starved city.

The estimated cost of the project is ₹12,700 crores. It will consist of eight lanes which will also include a BRT or a Bus Rapid Transport. What is more, the coastal road will also have a lot of green patches in order to improve the environment,
Once part of Phase 1 is completed, it will be open for traffic but only on weekdays for 12 hours. On weekends, it will remain shut so that the rest of the work can be finished. This means that even buses will only ply on it from 8 AM to 8 PM.
