Mumbai locals are widely considered the lifeblood of the city. True, it may not be the perfect system. Is it overcrowded? Yes. Are the trains perpetually late? Yes. But it is still the backbone of the city. The Finance Minister of the country, Nirmala Sitharaman, recently surprised the citizens of the financial capital of the country. She recently shared pictures of her travelling in the newer AC local trains of Mumbai.

As per the post made by her X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, she was travelling on the Central Line of the local trains. The caption of the post stated that she travelled from Ghatkopar all the way to Kalyan. It is not known whether the train was a fast one or a slow one.
However, it can be seen from the pictures that the train was among the relatively new air-conditioned coaches. In the pictures, she is seen interacting with other passengers. She also clicked a few pictures with the passengers.
This Is What Netizens Had To Say Regarding The Matter

Her post online received somewhat mixed reactions. While a vast majority of the commenters were pleasantly taken aback by the post, there were some naysayers as well. Many lauded her effort to mingle among commoners.
Makes sense she would travel by train coz if it had been a car she would have never reached Kalyan from Ghatkopar coz of traffic and roads …

They saw it as an attempt to figure out the difficulties of the daily life of a citizen. However, many said that the exercise was not useful. Some even made jokes saying that had she travelled by road, she never would have made it to Kalyan in the first place.
Two observations:
1) sparingly crowded Mumbai local train.
2) Heavy police bandobast.Passenger screened to enter this train too?
