Mumbai: From Mulund To Bhayandar, These 9 Railways Stations Will Get A Swanky Upgrade

Mumbaikars, we have great news for you. Several bustling and old railway stations in Mumbai have been chosen for significant upgrades. The reason behind revamping these stations is to construct swanky commercial spaces and office areas above these places and nearby. As of now, the plan is to transform 9 out of 18 stations. From Bhayandar to Khar Road to Dombivli, stations across the city are a part of this crucial redevelopment project. Scroll down to know more about the new renovation plan.

All the selected nine stations for this project are of the Mumbai rail network. The stations are:

  1. Bhayandar
  2. GTB Nagar
  3. Khar Road
  4. Mulund
  5. Bhandup
  6. Dombivli
  7. Kasara
  8. Mankhurd
  9. Neral

According to a report by Mid-Day, Bhayandar, GTB Nagar, Mulund, and Khar Road have vacant areas on elevated decks for commercial purposes. On the other hand, there are enough empty spaces around Bhandup, Dombivli, Kasara, Mankhurd, and Neral railway stations.

The revamping project has been initiated at Khar Road railway station already. Right now, it is only at the initial stage. If construction continues according to plans, the upgrade work will likely be finished soon.

Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) is working on this upgrade project. One of the key reasons for these transformations is to accommodate more passenger footfall.
