Mumbai-Gujarat New Train Service

The Western Railways has announced this additional service to meet the needs of the growing number of passengers on this busy route. The campaign aims to reduce travel difficulties, provide a comfortable journey and improve connectivity for the passengers. As per a report by News18, the Bandra Terminus-Palitana Weekly Special (Train No. 09023) started its operation from today onwards, i.e., 6th May. The train will depart from Bandra Terminus at 12:15 pm and is scheduled to reach Palitana Station at 5:10 am the next day, providing an overnight journey for passengers.

For the return journey, the Palitana-Bandra Terminus Weekly Special (Train No. 09024) will run on May 8, 2026 (Friday). It will depart from Palitana at 5 pm and arrive at Bandra Terminus at 7:25 am the following day.

Key Stations & Benefits Of The New Service

During the journey, the train will stop at key stations to provide services to passengers across multiple cities. These routes include Borivali, Palghar, Vapi, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Botad, Dhola, Songadh, and Sihor.

With the introduction of this special train, it is expected to bring important relief to passengers who frequently travel between Mumbai and Gujarat. With the rising demand, especially during weekends, summer vacations and festive periods, getting confirmed tickets has often been difficult. This additional service is likely to ease rush hour, reduce waiting lists, and improve overall travel.

The service is also expected to benefit devotees travelling to Palitana, which is also one of the most prominent religious destinations in Gujarat. By offering a direct route, the train improves accessibility for devotees. At the same time, families and business travellers will also benefit from improved connectivity.

As per reports, officials believe the new service will enhance rail connectivity between important cities and towns across Maharashtra and Gujarat. By linking major trade hubs and religious centres, the train is set to serve a wide range of passengers while making inter-city travel smoother and more efficient.
