A local train on Mumbai’s Panvel-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) route derailed earlier today and severely disrupted the Harbour Line services. It has been reported that one wheel of the coach derailed while approaching the CSMT station and caused the entire chaos. Thankfully, there have been no casualties or injuries reported. The Central Railway has issued an advisory with diversion and stoppages on this route. Read on to know all the details.
Local Train Derails & Disrupts Harbour Line Services In Mumbai
At 11:43 AM today, a local train entering Mumbai’s CSMT station derailed. According to reports, a wheel of one of the trolleys of the Panvel-CSMT train derailed at CSMT’s platform number 2. This has severely disrupted the operation of the Harbour line. While there have been no injuries among the passengers, this derailment has affected commuters travelling toward CSMT station.
The sudden disruption left passengers stranded. Some had to take the drastic step of navigating onto the tracks in a bid to reach the nearest station and find alternative transport options. The authorities and officials are present at the site of the derailment to solve the issue at the earliest. They are trying to resolve the issue as soon as possible to bring the services back to normal.
Central Railway Issues Advisory Amid Service Disruption
Keeping the situation in mind, Central Railway has announced some operational adjustments. They took to X (Formerly Twitter) to announce an advisory regarding some restrictions, diversions, and stoppages. They have announced restrictions en route for trains bound for CSMT to only travel as far as Masjid Station. As for the Harbour line, services will continue from and to Vadala station.

Central Railway reassured the public that the restoration is in full swing and there are no repercussions over Main Line services.
