With New Year just around the corner, people are gearing up to celebrate it with a blast. This will be the first time after the pandemic that people will crowd the streets of Mumbai and party with their dear ones. However, it is no walk in the park for the Mumbai police. They will be working their fingers to the bone, ensuring smooth traffic, zero accidents, and ensuring protocols are followed. Also, people who are going to party will have to play by the rules. Here is the set of rules and regulations that people have to follow.
Mumbai New Year Party Rules
Though there are no restrictions on gatherings, Mumbai police have issued certain rules that are mandatory to follow. First, the societies that wish to organise parties and play loud music will have to obtain a No-Objection Certificate authorised from the neighbourhood police station. Besides this, terrace parties are a curfew of 12:30 am. However, indoor parties can continue till 5:00 am. Also, the pubs in Mumbai can stay open till 5:00 am, while restaurants havetime till 1:30 am. Though there is no ban on firecrackers, bursting them near oil refineries or any other sensitive areas is prohibited.
Mumbai Police On Duty
Whether it is a festival or New Year’s Eve, Mumbai police are on duty. There is a probability that large crowds will gather near areas like Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, Girgaum Chowpatty, Gateway Of India, and other iconic places, Mumbai police are gearing up for traffic management. They have set up more than a hundred checkpoints and deployed more than 11,000 security personnel. They are taking a lot of efforts to ensure the New Year is safe and hassle-free.
Moreover, this year the police staff is taking precautionary steps to lower the danger of drunk driving and the accidents caused by it. Many drivers avoid checkpoints in hopes of not getting caught. However, this time they have decided of moving checkpoints. This will ensure that drunk drivers couldn’t dodge the police and get into accidents.
So these are the rules that you need to be aware of if you are partying in one of the iconic locations in Mumbai.
