Vivek Agnihotri Doesn’t Eat Anything That Has A Face Or A Mother!

In the latest Sunday Brunch episode, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, stepped into the beautiful home of hit Indian director Vivek Agnihotri and his wife, actor Pallavi Joshi. The couple invited the Curly Tales team over for a special veg and non-veg brunch, where they shared many interesting anecdotes about their lives. One of the highlights of the episode was Vivek revealing that he does not eat anything that has a face or a mother!

Vivek Agnihotri Follows A Strict Vegetarian Diet

This Sunday, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, enjoyed a hearty brunch at the residence of Bollywood couple Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi. With stunning artwork throughout the house and aesthetically pleasing corners, their Mumbai home felt no less than a five-star hotel. After sharing the story of their “meet-cute”, the Sunday Brunch episode quickly moved on to discuss their daily diet.

Vivek Agnihotri recalled that during his earlier days, he used to eat non-veg daily and follow a traditional North Indian diet. But now, he avoids non-veg food and sticks to a plant-based diet. He also added, “Jitni bhi beemariya hoti hai uska source ek hi hai, and that is food.” (Food is a source of many diseases) He further highlighted that he does not eat anything that has a face or a mother (animals) and instead follows a completely vegetarian diet.

He Follows Simple Diet Rules

Vivek Agnihotri shared his simple diet rules with us. Firstly, he eats anything that comes out of the earth. Secondly, as mentioned, he does not eat anything that has a face or a mother. Thirdly, he avoids food advertised on television, like junk food or processed food, and sticks to natural, healthy alternatives. To prove his point, he asked, “Kele ka advertisement dekha hai aapne kabhi?” (Have you ever seen an advertisement for bananas?) He said that anything healthy does not need advertising, and advertisements are made to manipulate people.

After this thought-provoking discussion, we all sat at the dining table for Sunday Brunch. The food included items from both Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi’s menus. From Oats Idlis and Black Rice to Mutton Chops with Pav, the Curly Tales team was spoiled for choice. After sharing many other interesting anecdotes, we played a game of “Who is Most Likely To?” For the answers, you will have to watch the entire episode.
