Girgaon Gudi Padwa Shobha Yatra always attracts a huge crowd in Mumbai. During the procession, people wear traditional Maharashtrian clothes. Women wear bright sarees with colourful borders and jewellery like nath, mangalsutra, and green bangles, while men dress in kurta-pyjamas or dhotis with vibrant pheta. One of the highlights of this Mumbai festival is the Girgaon Dhwajapathak. As per the Free Press Journal, in this, people perform perfectly timed beats and formations that bring huge energy to the parade. Their performances are exciting and one of the most awaited parts of the event. And it never disappoints! Also, this yatra features Lezim dancers performing amazing moves, dhol-tasha pathaks and beautifully decorated floats showing historical and mythological themes.
Participants carry saffron flags and chant “Har Har Mahadev” and “Jai Maharashtra” with full energy. The Shobha Yatra is more than just a New Year celebration—you can truly see the spirit and enthusiasm of Maharashtrians on full display.
