Mumbai is all set to transform air travel with the launch of the Navi Mumbai International Airport. This new airport is expected to open by the end of September, with plans to expand further with four terminals by 2032.

Navi Mumbai International Airport To Launch This September

The upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport will finally launch on September 30, 2025. This new airport will help ease traffic at CSMIA and provide more travel options to passengers. As part of NMIA’s Phase 1, Terminal 1 will be launched soon and is designed to handle 20 million passengers annually and serve both domestic and international flights. The design of Terminal 1 is inspired by a lotus, has a grand roof that allows abundant natural light and sustainable construction practices. By 2032, the authorities are planning to add four more terminals that will have a capacity of handling 90 million passengers per year.

1. Phases 1 and 2 of this airport include Terminal 1, which will handle 20 million passengers annually.
2. Phase 3 will feature Terminal 2, which will have the capacity to handle 30 million passengers.
3. In Phase 4, the authorities will construct Terminal 3, and it will have the capacity to handle 20 million passengers.
4. Finally, with Phase 5, they will complete the expansion with Terminal 4, which will accommodate 20 million passengers annually.

Key Features Of The New Airport In Mumbai

The new airport in Mumbai is expected to have top-of-the-line features. It will feature passenger-friendly upgrades with the world’s fastest baggage claim system to cut wait times. Automated check-in kiosks with biometric validation will expedite boarding, while expansive lounges will feature art installations to amp up the aesthetics. To give a relaxing experience to travellers, this airport will also have greenery and a lounge that will give passengers a panoramic view of the runway. 

Also, during waiting time, travellers can do some shopping and enjoy Mumbai’s famous street food. Passengers can shop at luxury brands or local stores and enjoy free Wi-Fi, business pods, and family lounges, ensuring comfort for every type of flyer.
