As Mumbai welcomed the iconic Lalbaugcha Raja, we could see how much love people have for the idol. Devotees are already excited to visit the pandal and do charan sparsh. Well, it’s not surprising because we see this every year, but what was different this year was the entry gate.
This year, the entry gate theme at Lalbaugcha Raja is inspired by Ujjain Mahakaal. A large statue of Lord Shiva towers over the gate, with a damaru and kamandalu in his hands. What’s even more majestic is that you can see Lord Shiva’s red eye blink. On the other side of Lord Shiva, there is a trishul and Nandi. This entry gate is truly a masterpiece that can be seen from miles away, and it’s hard to take your eyes off it.

When Was This Pandal First Established?
Lalbaugcha Raja pandal was first established back in 1934. Bappa here is also known as Navsacha Ganpati, which means the Ganpati who fulfils the wishes of devotees. Unlike other pandals, Lalbaugcha Raja has a traditional posture that remains the same every year. Only the colour of Bappa’s dhoti changes each day.
Every year, the idol is created by the Kambli family. Here, devotees can either stand in line for hours for charan sparsh or choose mukh darshan, and both experiences bring a sense of peace. During Ganesh Chaturthi, this place becomes one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in Mumbai.
