Mumbai has a whole different feel when it comes to Lord Ganesha celebrations. It’s no surprise that the city looks completely different during this time, with people dancing and standing in long lines for hours without getting impatient, just to catch a glimpse of the divine murti. Once again, the city is in a festive mood with the aagaman of Carter Road Cha Raja. However, devotees will not be able to get a glimpse of the Ganesh idol at the Siddhivinayak Temple for a few days.

Aagaman Of Carter Road Cha Raja In Mumbai

With Maghi Ganesh Chaturthi set to be celebrated on January 22, 2026, Mumbai is filled with excitement. The city is already in the festive mood with the arrival of the Carter Road Cha Raja. During this time, thousands of devotees gathered on the streets to welcome the first Ganpati idols of the Maghi celebrations.

Photos and videos from the aagman have gone viral across the internet. The streets came alive with the loud beats of traditional Dhol-Tasha. Chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” echoed nonstop. Dressed in bright colours, the huge crowd turned the procession into a beautiful sight, both on the roads and on social media. This year, Carter Road Cha Raja appeared in the powerful ‘Martand Malhar’ form, which caught everyone’s attention.

Over the years, Maghi Ganpati has become a huge celebration in Mumbai. This celebration marks the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, also known as Ganesh Jayanti. Many pandals will be set up in areas like Borivali, Kandivali, and Parel.

Ganesha Idol At Siddhivinayak Temple

According to The Times of India, Mumbai devotees will not be able to see the main Ganesh idol at Siddhivinayak Temple from January 7 to January 11, 2026, due to the annual sindoor lepan ceremony. During this ritual, priests apply vermilion to the idol to strengthen and preserve it. The temple remains open during this period.

Meanwhile, devotees can offer prayers to a replica of the Ganesh idol placed within the temple premises. The original idol in the sanctum sanctorum will reopen for public darshan after 1 pm on January 12, allowing devotees to once again seek blessings from the main moorti.
