Mumbaikars, New AC Local Trains Are Coming Your Way. Here’s What’s New!

Here’s some good news for people travelling in Mumbai local trains. Most probably, by the end of October, Western Railway’s Mumbai division will launch new AC local trains. If you’re wondering what is special about these AC local trains, then let us tell you. These local trains will have modular seats. Modular seats are made of fibre-reinforced polymer, which is more comfortable than the usual stainless-steel seats.

Western Railway’s suburban network is going to be the first rake to have one coach powered by lightweight flexible solar panels. Those solar panels are capable of generating 3.6 kilowatts of power. Also, the Flexi-solar panels will help in powering the fans and lights of the respective coach. According to reports, this rake will have a speed of 110 kilometres per hour. There are four types of carriages with a total capacity of 1,118 passengers.

Western Railway Is Also Going To Increase The AC Local Trains in Mumbai

Also, with passenger traffic increasing in air-conditioned (AC) facilities, Western Railway (WR) plans to introduce around 8-10 additional services. The Western Railway currently operates 79 local AC trains on the suburban section between Churchgate and Virar. However, earlier, these services were just available for Borivali and Churchgate commuters. But then later they extended it to Virar as well.

And, if reports are to be believed then the Western Railway is going to introduce 10 additional AC local train services.

The Non-AC Local Trains Will Have An Extra Ladies Compartment
