Looking at the current COVID-19 scenario, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) has released certain guidelines. Abiding by these guidelines, Mumbai’s CSMIA (Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport) has taken certain measures in order to curb the spread of the virus. The operator of Mumbai International Airport brought these measures into effect on December 24. Here are the measures taken:
Mumbai’s CSMIA Takes Measures Against COVID-19
International passengers arriving at Mumbai’s CSMIA shall undergo random post-arrival COVID testing at the airport. These passengers will be recognised by their individual airlines, and the airline staff will direct them to a designated place at the terminal for their RT-PCR tests. After submitting the samples, passengers must proceed to their next destination.
The laboratory shall make arrangements for sending the passengers a digital copy of the test results. The RT-PCR testing facility for international travellers arriving at CSMIA is situated in the pre-immigration area of the international arrival concourse, following the health screening counters.
24/7 Access To Testing Facility
Passengers who have been chosen at random by the airlines will have 24/7 free access to the testing facility at Mumbai’s CSMIA. For the COVID-19 testing, the CSMIA has designated a laboratory that is ICMR-approved and NABL-accredited. Moreover, the airport has allocated space for 06 registration counters and 3 sample booths.
Additionally, CSMIA has made sure that information on precautionary measures and the most recent alerts is strategically placed throughout the terminal and on airport digital platforms. All parties involved have been informed and made aware of the need to heed any instructions issued from time to time by the authorities.
The airport said that their teams will be available all the time to extend support and help people implement the guidelines.
