“Namaskar From Space”: Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Shares First Message From Axiom Mission 4

Shubhanshu Shukla, an Indian astronaut, has officially reached space as part of Axiom Mission 4. He and his team successfully lifted off on June 25 and docked at the International Space Station today. He has now shared his first message from space.

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla has finally reached space as part of the Axiom 4 Mission (Ax-4), along with his fellow astronauts. His first video from space, describing the journey and the thrilling feeling of being pushed into orbit, is now out. Read on to know more. 

Shubhanshu Shukla Shares First Message From Orbit

As per a report by NDTV, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla from the Indian Air Force is now aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft for the Ax-4 mission. The crew successfully lifted off on June 25 after a month-long delay and docked at the International Space Station (ISS) around 4:45 PM IST. 

In a video shared by Axiom Space on YouTube, Shukla says, “Namaskar from space.” He describes the journey as thrilling and the feeling of being in space as indescribable. Speaking from inside the Dragon spacecraft, he talks about learning to live in microgravity and how amazing it felt to float in a vacuum as the aircraft orbited the Earth before docking at ISS. Shubhanshu Shukla also said that he felt like being pushed back in his seat when he encountered the first gravitational force during the launch.

Finally, In Space After 30 Days Of Quarantine 

According to the video shared by Axiom Space on YouTube, Shubhanshu Shukla said that after being in quarantine for 30 days, all he wanted was to “just let go.” For those unfamiliar, Shubhanshu Shukla and three other astronauts lifted off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida on board the Dragon spacecraft, powered by the Falcon 9 rocket.

They will stay at the ISS for 14 days, as per The Hindu. Shubhanshu Shukla also thanked everyone who supported him in his journey, saying it was because of everyone’s collective efforts that made this mission successful. Moreover, he also showed us a soft swan toy, which he explained that it’s an important symbol in Indian culture, representing wisdom. In the video, all four astronauts shared their feelings for their countries and their joy about being in space.
