The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has announced that trial runs for the section between Uttar Pradesh’s Sahibabad and Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar will begin in November. This will be the first trial run of the Delhi section of the RRTS. Read on to learn more about this development.
Trial Run On The Delhi Section Of RRTS To Begin In November
The New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station in Delhi is nearly complete. Seeing this, the NCRTC announced that the trial runs for the 12-kilometre section between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar will begin in November. This will be the first set of trial runs for the Delhi section of RRTS.
As per The Financial Express report, the construction of New Ashok Nagar station is in its final stage and will soon be ready for a trial run. They further mentioned that once completely operational, this section of RRTS will significantly reduce the travel time of the commuters. With this new train, the travel time between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South RRTS station will be reduced to 35-40 minutes. Currently, it takes nearly 1.5 hours to cover this distance.
All You Need To Know About The New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station
The Delhi segment of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS will have a nine-kilometre elevated viaduct and a five-kilometre underground section. Reportedly, the construction of the elevated viaduct is complete with some track laying and overhead electrification work remaining. The 14-kilometre Delhi stretch of RRTS has three stations – Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar stations – and they are all nearing completion.
According to The Financial Express report, the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station spans about 215 metres in length and 30 metres in width. As per NCRTC’s latest update, the concourse and platform levels of the station are complete. The roof work and track-laying activities are in progress. The station will also have a 90-metre-long and 6-metre-wide foot overbridge. This will help connect the RRTS station to the nearby metro station.
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is about 82-kilometre long. Currently, only the 42-kilometre stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South is operational. The entire corridor is likely to become fully operational by June 2025.
