Air India is all set to shed its old skin and upgrade to an all-new experience. As part of this transformation, it is having more than 100 aircraft retrofitted. The airline has also ordered more seats for the retrofitting of the planes. In addition to these, there are a number of other changes in the pipeline. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this particular transformation of India’s flag carrier airline.

According to an article which was recently published by Zee News, the airline has ordered more than 100 planes. Of these 100 planes, as many as 40 are wide-body aircraft that will be retrofitted. In addition to this, the airline has also ordered a whopping 25,000 seats.

These seats will be retrofitted in the new planes. These new retrofitted aircraft will be mainly used for the busiest routes of the airline. These include flights to Dubai, New York, San Francisco and more.

These transformations are a part of Air India’s larger plan of revamping the airline. The plan is set to unfold over the course of the next five years.

Here Is What The CEO Of The Airlines Has To Say About It

Campbell Wilson, the CEO of the airline is hopeful about these new changes and transformation. As per his statement cited in the article, the airline is in a good position and there is immense flexibility after the recent merges.

AIX Connect which was formerly known as AirAsia India is getting merged with Air India Express while Vistara is merging with Air India. The revamp will focus heavily on integration and optimisation as well as customer experience.

It is hoped that the operational issues that the airline has been plagued with recently will also be resolved once the revamp is done.
