Gharana Wetlands is known for different species of birds, both migratory and resident. Also, it is one of the most important destinations for their habitat. It is home to almost sixty-five species of birds including Northern pintail, Eurasian wigeon, white-breasted ibis, and others. This is one of the reasons why authorities are taking interest in this place and plan to make it a bird sanctuary. According to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu, Gharana Wetlands will be a popular destination among tourists.

Construction Of Bird Sanctuary

The authorities are taking a sustainable approach towards the development of this region. Also, they are trying to include every possible facility that will be needed to provide top-class service to tourists visiting this sanctuary. Maintaining the natural habitat for birds is the prime duty of authorities. Moreover, facilities like parking bays, chain line fencing and other infrastructure will be completed among other things. Besides this, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar has visited the site and assessed the ongoing process of the new bird sanctuary. It is also one of the locations for border tourism and ecotourism.
