The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway connects two major cities in the country. As such, the traffic volume on the highway is high, especially between Mumbai and Surat. This is why the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) resolved to create another bridge consisting of four lanes. The bridge cost around 247 crores to build and the stone-laying ceremony was attended by Devendra Fadnavis, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Rajan Vichare, the MP, also visited the site of the bridge a couple of days back to review its progress.
