Newly Renovated Highway With Kerala’s Same Old Lush Beauty!
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the revamped, picturesque Munnar-Bodimettu road. A segment of NH-85, this newly renovated route is known as one of Kerala’s most beautiful roads. Travellers from Bengaluru will have to take the Salem-Dindigul Road to get on the NH-85 (Kochi-Dhanushkodi). Nitin Gadkari also launched the Cheruthoni Bridge that spans across the Idukki reservoir Periyar downstream today.

What’s New & How Is The Internet Reacting To This Beauty?
The renovated stretch – 42 kilometres long – along the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway cost around ₹381 crore for its complete transformation. Some of the key highlights of the Munnar-Bodimettu highway were road widening, zebra lines, and signboard installation to improve safety and navigability. Roads on this highway were only four metres wide earlier; they have now undergone significant widening and are now 15 metres wide!
The best part, however, for us is the scenic picture this new highway paints. With clear skies, lush vegetation, and the Chokramudi Hills in the background, the Munnar-Bodimettu highway will surely leave you enthralled!
