Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari shared a video on his official Twitter handle. The video featured the first glimpse of the Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Expressway’s first phase. He informed me that the expressway will be completed by December this year. The journey from India’s capital Delhi to Dehradun will now be completed in just 2 hours with this new expressway.
Nitin Gadkari Shares First Glimpse of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway
Nitin Gadkari recently inspected the upcoming six-lane Delhi-Dehradun expressway. The current travel time between Dehradun and Delhi is approximately 6–7 hours. This expressway promises to reduce the travel time to 2 hours.
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will be about 212 Km long and pass through Shamli, Baghpat, and Saharanpur as it begins from North East Delhi, Akshardham. This new expressway is being built at a cost of ₹12 thousand crore.
Nitin also mentioned that there will be many wayside amenities like electric charging stations. He also said that Indian roads will surely match American roads by the year 2024. The work on the expressway is currently going at a good pace.

New Projects In The Pipeline
Gadkari spoke about new projects other than Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. He also stated that the Rs 10,000 crore Dwarka motorway, which is currently under construction, is nearly 80% complete and will help relieve traffic congestion in Delhi. To address traffic issues in the National Capital Region, the government has invested Rs 65,000 crore in projects.
Furthermore, Gadkari informed the Rajya Sabha that work on the rehabilitation, strengthening, and four-laning of the Banihal bypass has begun. He also spoke about the upgrading and widening of National Highway-202 from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner, Imphal-Ukhrul road. Nitin also mentioned that it may take another year to complete, with a completion date set for May 2024. (As per a report by Money control)
