Kempegowda International Airport announced the scheduled plans to start flight services to overseas destinations at the T2 terminal on 31 August. The plans stated about the first flight taking off to Singapore on Singapore Airlines flight SQ508/SQ509. IndiGo was scheduled to be the first Indian carrier to depart the first international flight in the terminal to Colombo.

The airport shared the significance of this beginning at the T2 terminal and about marking an important milestone. In a press release, the authorities shared details about the first few planes operating to and from this terminal of the Bengaluru airport. Though the plans were to start flights on Thursday morning, the airport authorities later issued a statement mentioning that the operations from the T2 terminal were not moving as per the scheduled plan.

A day before beginning the international operations at the T2 terminal, the authorities released a statement highlighting the postponing plan. They talked about how the scheduled plans won’t be taking place on the anticipated date. “The proposed shifting of international operations to T2 at Bengaluru Airport on August 31, 2023, stands postponed”, a BLR Airport spokesperson stated in the press release.

The airport will be releasing a date for the transition of international operations after consulting all regulatory authorities. They took this decision at the very last minute during the final preparedness review in order to provide an optimal and seamless transition for the passengers.
