If you’ve been on road trips, you know better than anyone that one of the major reasons why they’re fun is because of the scenic landscapes that you get to witness. Especially on fast-moving roadways like highways and expressways, the beauty of these views is amplified. In keeping with this, National Highways, especially ones in the northeast, are all set to step up their game. Soon, the highways will receive resting points, cafes, and washrooms that are clean.
Highways In The Northeast To Get 100 Resting Points
The Ministry of Tourism has started working on 100 select locations along National Highways and is developing them into resting points. The plan is to equip the national highways with washrooms that are clean, cafes, and dedicated selfie points.
This will be done in order to facilitate a better travelling experience for the commuters. According to reports, the work has already begun in 40 of the 100 locations. According to G Kishan Reddy, who is the Union and Tourism and Culture Minister, the work is being done in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region (DoNER).
He further states that the government is also collaborating with the Petrol Pump Owners’ Association in order to install new petrol pump stations along the highway. These points will also have clean washrooms and convenience stores for the ease of commuters.
