The Brits are crazy about Indian food. Most of them would have at least tried chicken tikka masala, saag paneer or butter chicken at least once in their lifetime, even if it is finding out for themselves, what the hype really is about. And now a recent survey has revealed that youngsters in the UK are ditching sweet biscuits over samosas with their tea. Desis, certainly approve. UK Youngsters Love To Pair Their Tea With Granola Bars & Samosas

A recent survey has revealed that youngsters in Britain are now ditching biscuits in favour of savoury snacks like samosas to enjoy with their tea. The survey revealed that one in ten people between the age group of 18 to 29 years wanted granola bars with their chai. Samosas hold second place with 8 per cent of UK youngsters enjoying this desi snack with their tea. But no one above the age group of 65 chose samosas as their favourite tea-time snack.

According to Dr Sharon Hall, UKTIA’s chief executive, granola bars are quite filling, so this is the reason people like to pair this with their tea. She also told The Daily Telegraph, that UK youngsters want to eat something substantial with their tea. So, this is the same reason why samosas are becoming more popular than biscuits in the UK. Dr Sharon went on to suggest that youngsters like spicy or nutty flavours, perhaps they reminded them of their travel memories from across the globe.

Perhaps, Tea & Samosas May Elicit Travel Memories

The researchers are further interested to find out more about the reason they liked samosas with tea. With further study, they want to know if there is any link between samosas and travel memories. A previous study conducted on tea drinkers in the UK revealed that a cup of chai can trigger positive emotions across all age groups.

But now that UK youngsters are preferring samosas with chai, the sales of sweet biscuits are at risk. Due to changing habits, sweet biscuits may not have much demand in the future.
