When we first saw a picture of this picturesque landscape on Instagram we never had a doubt that it wasn’t the Bolivian Salt Flats. But when we scrolled down to read the caption, we were utterly surprised that it was not! The vast white field looked like a lift-off of the snow-clad Gulmarg. The caption read Rajasthan and we could not wait but do more research on this place and here’s what we found out.
The Virgin Spectacle Is A Marble Dumping Yard In Kishangarh
When we paused and gave a careful look to the virgin spectacle we realised that the white expanse was not snow but a marble slurry. After digging more on Google, we found out that it is a dumping yard for Asia’s biggest marble trading centre. This place was allocated to the Kishangarh Marble Association as a dumping yard in the 70s and is abuzz with tractors all day offloading marbles. It turns out that, this place is quite popular and many Punjabi videos have been shot. Instagram has many pictures of couples romancing around a dead tree with a white backdrop in the background.

Two Hours From Jaipur, The Experience In The Wasteland Is Not Pleasant
But while the place looks magical, the experience is not as great here at this dumbing yard in Kishangarh, Rajasthan. The marble waste stripped the vicinity of all its vegetation over years. Plus the dust particles have been detrimental to the surrounding population causing many to suffer from bronchitis and respiratory diseases. The quality of air is also extremely poor here.
