Odisha: 50 School Students To Get A Free Ride On The Vande Bharat Express; Here’s What We Know

The Vande Bharat trains have been considered India’s latest victory in terms of travel development. The train’s smooth journey, sustainable ways and affordable prices have attracted adults and even children, alike. So, to help fulfil the dream of some of these children to ride the train, 50 lucky students from THIS Odisha school will be given a free ride, aboard the Vande Bharat Express train.

On August 12, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that 50 students from Saraswati Vidya Mandir School will receive a complimentary ride on the Vande Bharat Express. The free ride will be given after a selection process, reported Business Standard. As per the reports, the selection will be based on competition.

On August 13, the Union Minister conducted the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for Saraswati Vidya Mandir school, stated Business Standard’s reports. As per the report, he also engaged with the students during the event.

While speaking to reporters, the Union Minister stated how when the students saw Vande Bharat’s video, they had a desire to travel in the Vande Bharat Express, reported Business Standard. As per the reports, he also said in his statement that a competition will be conducted.  And of them, the 50 students who are selected will be given a free ride. 

Odisha’s first Vande Bharat train was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 18. The train services were launched between Puri to Howrah via video conferencing, reported Business Standard.  As per the reports, the Union Minister also appreciated the redevelopment work at the Bhubaneswar railway station. He also said that he will visit and inspect the site station.

What Other Developments Have India’s Railway Stations Made?

As per the report, previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the redevelopment of 508 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He accomplished this by laying the foundation stone through a video conference from the national capital.

This initiative includes 11 stations at Khurda Road, along with a total of 25 stations in Odisha, stated the report. According to the report, several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers also joined the foundation stone laying ceremony. They joined the ceremony from their respective states, said Business Standard.  

As per an official release given to Business Standard, the redevelopment will provide modern passenger amenities. This will be accompanied by well-designed traffic circulation and well-designed signage for the guidance of passengers, stated the report.
