In India, there are 8 beaches that have already received the Blue Flag certification for their pristine beauty and neatness. These Blue Tag certified beaches have given India an international recognition. In Odisha, the Golden Beach of Puri has received the certification. Now Odisha government has decided to develop five more beaches to fetch them the Blue Flag certification.
Developments On Niladri Beach Almost Complete
According to an odishatv.in report, CM Naveen Patnaik has stated, “Plans to meet international standards are being rolled out for Pati Sonapur and Haripur in Ganjam district and Niladri, Muhan and Jahania in Puri district.” Developments on Niladri Beach are almost complete. Work on four other beaches will start soon, as per reports.

The Beaches Will Get Solar Lighting, Watchtowers And More
Blue Flag certification is a globally recognised eco-label accorded by an international agency ‘Foundation for Environment Education, Denmark’. To get Blue Flag certification, the beaches need to fulfil 33 stringent criteria. For the renovation of the five beaches, the Odisha government has made a provision of ₹1.5 crores for each project. The facilities that will come up on the beaches include solar lighting, toilets, watchtowers and seating arrangements. But there won’t be any permanent buildings on the coast. Other Indian Beaches With Blue Flag Certification
The 8 beaches in India which have received the Blue Flag certification are Radhanagar in Andaman, Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Kasarkod and Padubidri in Karnataka, Ghoghla in Diu, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden Beach of Puri in Odisha and Kappad in Kerala. The Golden Beach of Puri attracts a large number of visitors, thanks to its marvellous beauty. It has a safe bathing zone, watchtowers, solar lighting system, public toilets and more and it is disabled-friendly too. At Golden Beach, the annual Puri Beach Festival takes place every year.
