On October 22, Sunday, India managed to bring back 143 people from Israel as part of Operation Ajay. Amid growing tension between Israel and Palestine, India launched an initiative to rescue all the Indian nationals who are still in Israel so that no harm comes to them and they are able to be with their families in peace in India. Yesterday, India managed to bring back 143 people from Israel as part of Operation Ajay. 141 of these were Indian Nationals and two of them were from the neighbouring country of Nepal. The aircraft landed at the New Delhi airport and the people on board were welcomed to India by Faggan Singh Kulaste, the Union Minister.
This was the sixth chartered flight under Operation Ajay. This operation was launched by the External Affairs Minister of India, Dr S Jaishankar. In his post on X (formerly known as Twitter) announcing the launch of the mission, he stated that the country was fully committed to the safety and return of Indian nationals from Israel.
The mission was launched 11 days back. It was estimated that around 18,000 Indians are living in Israel, many of whom are students who went there to study. Operation Ajay was arranged so that those who wanted to return to India could do so safely.

So far, more than 1200 people have been rescued. On October 13, Friday, the first chartered flight departed from the Ben Gurion Airport in Israel and carried 211 adults and one infant. The second flight reached India on October 14, Saturday. It carried 235 Indians and two infants. The next day, which was October 15, Sunday, the third flight reached India carrying 197 Indians.

The fourth flight also reached India on October 15 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport or the IGIA in Delhi. The fifth flight took off on October 17, Tuesday. It was carrying around 286 passengers and 18 of these were Nepalese nationals. Finally, the sixth flight reached India yesterday.
Authorities took to social media and posted a slew of pictures of the passengers who were brought back from Israel. Helplines for emergencies have also been set up. The Indian Embassy in Israel is also on high alert and ready to help in case Indians in Israel need help. The operation has been lauded by commoners and government officials alike.
