Paris Olympics 2024: Unhappy With Food Served At The Games Village, Indian Shooters Turn To A Local Pakistani Restaurant For Meals

Finding food that suits your culinary preferences is quite a task while you’re travelling abroad. And it looks like the Indian shooting contingent competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics is facing this issue right now! It has been reported that the shooting team is having difficulties in finding food that aligns with their dietary preferences at the Games Village. So, they are now cooking their meals or dining at a local Pakistani restaurant in Châteauroux.

Indian Shooters Turn To Pakistani Restaurant At Paris Olympics

The Indian shooting team at the 2024 Paris Olympics are, reportedly, unhappy with the food at the Games Village. According to a report in Firstpost, the team is now dining at a Pakistani restaurant to satisfy their needs for Indian food. According to reports, the menu at the village in Châteauroux has mostly continental dishes that do not suit the culinary preferences of the team. For the vegetarians, the choices are limited to dal and chawal.

Also, the fact that the same container was being used for meat and vegetarian dishes has further deterred the players from having meals at the village, Firstpost reported. So, after some online research, the team ventured out and found a local Pakistani restaurant called the Taj Mahal. As per reports, members like Prithviraj Tondaiman, Rajeshwari Kumar and Shreyasi Singh now have been having at least one meal at the restaurant.

A saving grace for the team members, this restaurant is run by Atif Nomam, an immigrant from Pakistan. Understanding the Indian palate, he is able to serve the Indian shooting team flavourful and good food that suits their preference.

Members Cooking Meals & Eating At Local Restaurants

The Indian shooting team at the 2024 Paris Olympics is struggling with food during the games. So, they either preferred going out and finding South Asian restaurants or cooking their meals. As per The Times of India report, some members and coaches of the team even resorted to cooking for themselves too.

For instance, pistol coach Jaspal Rana cooked rajma chawal for himself as he couldn’t find food that suited his palate at the Games Village. While other members have come to rely on local South Asian restaurants like Taj Mahal.
