Do You Know You Can Visit Louvre Museum In Paris For Free Once A Month? Here’s How

Paris is a dream destination for many, but for art and history lovers, it is a lot more special. The city is home to many iconic museums, including the world-famous Louvre Museum, which sees hundreds of tourists daily. But did you know that instead of getting your tickets, the museum allows free entry on the first Friday of every month? We bet you did not! Scroll on to know how it works.

Free Entry To The Louvre Museum in Paris

The Louvre Museum in Paris is world-renowned for being the largest museum in the world. It is a heaven for art lovers since it houses masterpieces like Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the Winged Victory of Samothrace. The museum was originally a royal palace before being transformed into a museum.

You won’t believe it, but the Louvre is the most visited art museum not just in France but in the entire world. For non-EU visitors, the ticket is currently priced at €32 (₹3464 approx.). But you can enter the museum for free. According to its official website, entry is free for all visitors on the first Friday of every month after 6 pm.

How To Get Free Entry

This means that if you are planning to visit Paris anytime soon, and the Louvre is on your itinerary, you can plan your visit on the first Friday of the month. This hack can save you money, especially if you are travelling with family. But there’s a catch. This rule does not apply in July and August, and on July 14.

This free Friday evening is often called ‘Nocturne’ and requires you to book a free time slot online in advance on the official Louvre website because capacity is limited. These tickets usually become available a few days before the first Friday of every month.

During these sessions, which run from 6 pm to 9:45 pm, the museum is less crowded. This means you can spend more quiet time looking at masterpieces, especially the Mona Lisa. This is amazing, right? Free or not, visiting the Louvre in Paris is definitely an unbeatable experience. Apart from paintings, there are iconic sculptures, historical items, and more to explore. Even the museum building is a work of art in itself.
