Toy train rides are surely one of the most fascinating experiences to enjoy in Darjeeling. This fun ride takes visitors on a splendid journey to witness the glory, grandeur, and natural aura of the hill station. From mountain peaks to verdant greenery, tourists enjoy picturesque panoramic views while enjoying this stunning ride. Unfortunately, the toy train services have been suspended now.

Here’s Why Toy Train Services In Darjeeling Are Suspended

This alluring hill station in West Bengal is now experiencing monsoon season in full swing. And in view of the rainy season and downpours in all places, the popular toy train services have been suspended. A letter has been issued for this announcement. The letter mentioned that the monsoon season in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway section of Northeast Frontier Railway is the reason behind cancelling the toy train rides. The decision for the toy trains to come to a pause started on 20 July and will continue till 31 August 2023, according to a report by Finacial Express.

Sabyasachi De is the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway and he announced the news of cancellation of toy train rides and services in Darjeeling. During this period from July to August, 1 diesel Joy Ride and 3 steam Joy Rides are experiencing suspension in this hill station.

Did You Know That The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Is An UNESCO World Heritage Site?

Nestled in the Himalayan foothills, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway got recognition as a UNESCO world heritage site in the year 1999. Sabyasachi De shared that this UNESCO world heritage site is the most travelled destination by visitors, according to a report by The Times of India. Also, this place provides the country’s best toy train journey experiences.

The journey of the toy train starts at the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) every day. It takes the tourists between NJP and Darjeeling, covering a total distance of 88 km. During the train ride, the visitors pass through Ghoom, Siliguri, and Kurseong.
