Survival has become a major challenge for the daily wagers and migrant workers stranded in big cities after the coronavirus lockdown. With no money and no place to stay, many of them, including pregnant women, had to walk hundreds of kilometres to go back to their villages. The central government has now arranged Shramik special trains to allow more than 10,000 of these workers to reach their homes. Many popular restaurant chains too came forward to feed them during the lockdown days. And now we have come across a creative initiative that has been taken up to assist these workers financially.
What Is It?
A project known as the Prints for India has put the works of some renowned photographers on sale for a limited period of time. These photographic arts beautifully depict India from diverse perspectives. The works are a mix of rare cityscapes, happenings, people’s expressions, activities and more. The prices of these photographic prints start at around ₹7600. They will be available for sale till 22nd May 2020.
The project includes masterpieces of artists like Sanjit Das, Raul Irani, Anurag Banerjee, Federico Borella, Taha Ahmed, Sutapa Roy, Swarat Ghosh and Harry Gruyeart, among many others. They have captured lives in motion as well as unusual landscapes with the utmost perfection.
