“Please Refrain From Sharing Old Videos,” Northern Railway Responds To Video Of Overcrowded Vande Bharat

Overcrowding in trains is one of the major issues that Indian Railways face. This happens mainly because many travellers are either unable to get tickets on time or deliberately travel without a valid ticket. This leads to overcrowding which makes for an incredibly uncomfortable journey for everyone involved. Someone recently shared a video of another overcrowded Vande Bharat train on social media. However, the official handle of Northern Railway called out the video’s misleading nature.

Video Of Overcrowded Vande Bharat Train Shared

A user shared a video of an overcrowded Vande Bharat train on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the caption of the video, the user implied that the scenes were from a Vande Bharat train in Lucknow. However, the date of this video is not mentioned.

The post was shared on June 9, 2024, and the lack of specification makes it seem like the video was recent. More so because overcrowded trains are a common phenomenon. The problem is worsened when ticketless passengers take over the seats of even those passengers who have valid tickets.

Many people assumed that the video shared was recent and expressed outrage against the situation. One commenter even suggested that the passengers should pull the chain in such a scenario so that the situation is sorted out by the RPF.

Northern Railway Calls Out The Post’s Misleading Nature

Soon after the video was shared, however, the official handle of the Northern Railway set the record straight. The account responded in the comment section stating that the video shared is an old one. The lack of a date compounded the misleading nature of the video.

As a cautionary message, the account also stated that users should avoid spreading misinformation or misleading content through such old videos. This is a reminder to all, that though social media can be beneficial in spreading information, it can also just as easily spread misinformation.
