The new integrated terminal in Chennai airport on Saturday was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He flew down to Chennai from Hyderabad and inaugurated this swanky new terminal. This new terminal is part of Chennai Airport Modernisation Phase II and will boost connectivity and the economy. The inauguration took place in the presence of many other dignitaries. The swanky terminal will improve the passenger experience at the airport and reduce commuter traffic. This terminal will improve the airport’s passenger handling capabilities, transforming it into a major air travel hub in South India.
Along with PM Modi, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Chief Minister M K Stalin and Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi were also present.
PM Modi took to Twitter to praise the Chennai airport’s new state-of-the-art integrated terminal building. He said that it will be an important addition to the city’s infrastructure.

The new terminal at Chennai airport has been constructed at a cost of ₹1.260 crore.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also took to Twitter to praise this new development. He mentioned that the capacity of the airport with this new development has now increased by 50 percent.

A Tribute To Tamil Culture
The new section of the Chennai airport covers 2.20 lakh square metres. Each year, it can accommodate over 35 million passengers.
There will be 54 immigration counters at each of the points of arrival and exit to streamline the transit process. The Skylight will use natural light to illuminate the interior of the structure.

The integrated terminal building pays homage to the native Tamil culture by showcasing kolams, sarees, and temples, among other customary items. (As per Hindustan Times)
