PM Modi Inaugurates Pragati Maidan Tunnel In Delhi; Ensures Cleanliness & Picks Litter

A kaleidoscopic tunnel has come up in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan area to ease the traffic woes of commuters. Decked with stunning murals on both sides, the tunnel has advanced facilities like CCTV, innovative fire management and a Public Announcement System. It is a part of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor Project. Not only will the tunnel make traffic movement towards Central Delhi easier from Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon, it will also offer an alternative route to Bhairon Marg. It is also linked directly to the basement parking of the Pragati Maidan exhibition centre.

The Pragati Maidan Tunnel Runs From NSCI To Ring Road

The tunnel runs from the National Sports Complex of India (NSCI) to the Ring Road through the Purana Qila Road. It has five underpasses. It has been constructed by the Central Government at a cost of more than ₹920 crores. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the tunnel on June 19, 2022. Also, to ensure that the tunnel remains spick and span, PM Modi picked up discarded plastic bottles and other scraps lying in the area.

Underneath the main tunnel, two cross tunnels have been constructed to allow smooth movement from both sides of the parking lot. Underpass number 5 lying on the T-intersection of Bhairon Marg and Ring Road is yet to complete. As per reports, it would take around 1.5 months more for this part of the tunnel to be complete.
