PM Modi Visits Arul Mihu Navashakti Vinayagar Temple In Seychelles

Located in Victoria, the capital city of Seychelles, the Arul Mihu Navashakti Vinayagar Temple is one of the most iconic Hindu temples in the country. It is dedicated to Lord Vinayakar (Lord Ganesha) and is known for its beautiful Dravidian architecture. The temple was constructed in 1992 and has a very colourful gopuram. Apart from Lord Ganesha, icons of Murugan, Nadarajah, Maa Durga, Bhairawa and Chandekeswarar are also enshrined in the temple. 

The temple has been designed to resemble Hindu temples in South India. The place has an inner sanctum known as the garbha griha, where people can pray. According to Inside Seychelles, the main feature of the temple is its spire, which measures about 100 feet tall. People from the Hindu community gather here for everyday prayers, festivals, and other celebrations.

According to The Tribune, during his time in the capital city of Seychelles, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only prayed at the temple but also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora.

The temple is also a celebrated symbol showcasing the strong ties between India and Seychelles. Plus, the PM also spoke about the strong cultural and historical ties that unite India and Seychelles. The temple frequently hosts international dignitaries, too.
