If you’re in Prague or planning a trip soon, here’s something you can’t miss: the newly reopened Prague Planetarium. After two years of upgrades, it’s back, and now it’s not just any planetarium. The Prague Planetarium now has something no other place in Europe does — a giant, fully digital LED dome. It is a technological revolution in the way we experience the universe. The LED dome is made up of around 45 million tiny lights on over 12,000 special panels, creating the clearest, brightest, and most realistic view of space you’ve ever seen.

The light output is 100 times stronger than what you’d get from a traditional projector. That means when you’re watching a show here, it feels like you’re actually flying through galaxies, floating next to planets, or staring into the heart of a star. Jakub Rozehnal, the Director of the Planetarium, summed it up perfectly: “What visitors will see is absolutely unique. Everyone who’s seen it so far has been amazed.”

A Whole New Way To Explore The Universe!

While traditional planetariums focus only on astronomy, the new Prague Planetarium is going beyond the stars. Yes, you’ll still get incredible shows about the night sky and our solar system — but there’s so much more in store:

  • World premieres like Hurvínk’s Space Odyssey, the first full-dome puppet film in the world!
  • A new show called ‘Inquisitive Eve: Stories of Planet Earth’ tells the story of how our planet came to be.
  • The return of a crowd-favourite space adventure with ‘3-2-1 Start!,’ featuring an inventive little hamster.
  • Plans to host live music concerts, theatre, and art performances inside the dome.

So whether you love astronomy, storytelling, live performances, or just cool tech, there’s going to be something for you.

In a world full of screens and distractions, the Prague Planetarium offers something truly magical – the chance to pause, look up, and feel the wonder of the universe. Whether you’re five or fifty, there’s something deeply exciting about seeing the stars up close, watching planets swirl in brilliant colour, or hearing stories about how Earth came to be — all while sitting under one of the most impressive domes on the planet.

So, if you’re in Prague, don’t miss out. The universe is waiting for you, and the best seat in Europe to experience it is now officially open.
