Good news for Pune commuters! Starting today, the much-awaited Khadki Metro station is finally open to the public. This newly opened station on the Pimpri Chinchwad–Swargate corridor will bring ease and convenience to the lives of daily commuters. Pune Metro has taken a big step toward smarter, faster, and better-connected travel in the city.
Pune Metro’s Khadki Station Finally Opens
Since both Khadki and Range Hill stations weren’t operational, passengers had to go straight from Shivajinagar to Bopodi. Those who lived or worked in and around Khadki had to endure longer commutes. But now that Khadki station is operational, that service gap has been partially filled.
Located next to the Khadki railway station, the Khadki Metro station is strategically positioned to become a major hub for multimodal transportation. Whether you’re travelling across town or alternating between trains and the metro, your trip has essentially become much more flexible. This will not only affect the commute time but will also make it hassle-free for daily travellers.
According to the Hindustan Times reports, Shravan Hardikar, Managing Director of Pune Metro, says, “The inclusion of Khadki station further strengthens the public transport network connecting the twin cities of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. It will greatly benefit residents and workers in and around Khadki and Aundh.”

New Stop Set To Improve Access Across Pune
Originally, the station was supposed to be operational by November 2024, but things didn’t work out that way. Due to a lack of workers and unfinished installations, including stairwells, lighting, painting, mechanical fixtures, and decorative elements, work was delayed. Fortunately, the wait is over now.
Residents and daily commuters from Khadki Bazar, Range Hill Corner, Aundh, Mula Road, and Khadki Police Colony will now enjoy easier, quicker access to the metro. According to the Hindustan Times, the station also improves connectivity to popular areas and institutions like Pune University, Aundh IT Park, Ordnance Factory Hospital, and more. This new metro stop will significantly cut down traffic and make public transport a more attractive option for Punekars.
So if you live or work anywhere near Khadki, your regular commute just got a whole lot easier.
